ANNOUNCEMENTS

School Day Countdown

On-Campus Tutoring After School is available for all scholars Monday-Wednesday and Friday. Tutoring is offered in the library from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. No appointment is needed. 

 

AP/IB testing will be starting soon. The testing window is from May 1st through May 19th.  Testing schedules will be handed out to AP students the week of the 17th and include a testing tips sheet on the back.  AP testing questions can be directed to Ms. Zubiate in the counseling center. Best of luck to all our students' future endeavors.

 

Steam-A-Palooza. You are cordially invited to attend STEAMAPALOOZA on Saturday, April 22nd from 9 am-1 pm at Loara High School. STEAMAPALOOZA is this year’s district-wide Open House and will feature food booths, visual and performing arts productions, and interactive STEAM activities such as building droids, test-driving robots (including an underwater robot), Esports, and hands-on workshops. Student-driven entrepreneurship will also be front and center as students from Empowered classrooms across the district will bring their business start-ups to life as well as many students showcasing their civic-action projects throughout the day. Many community partners will also be in attendance and providing resources at this event. Prizes and giveaways will happen all day, including extra tickets to AUHSD Graduations, gift cards to businesses such as Amazon and Starbucks, Angels tickets (Suites), and various tech gadgets.

Please bring the whole family to come and celebrate the amazing work of our students and schools. We hope to celebrate with all of you. 

We are providing transportation. Families are welcome to get on any bus that is most convenient. There will be busses picking up every hour starting at 7:30 am from the following locations: Anaheim HS, Ball JHS, Brookhurst JHS, Cypress HS, Dale JHS, Katella HS, Ponderosa Park, Kennedy HS, Lexington JHS, Oxford Academy, Savanna HS, South JHS, Sycamore JHS, and Western HS. Busses will rotate to drop back off at these same locations once an hour from Loara, with the last bus leaving Loara at 1:30 pm.  

 

 

School Site Council Meeting. Wednesday, April 19 from 3:30-4:30 in room 101. The School Site Council (SSC) is composed of the principal, teachers, other school personnel, parents and students.  It provides a forum for all of Kennedy's constituents to come together, identify common goals, and establish a plan to achieve these goals.  This involvement occurs through the development of the SPSA (School plan for student achievement), the continuous review of the implementation of the plan, the assessment of the effectiveness of the plan, and the ongoing review and updating of the school plan.  It is also a forum for you to receive on-going up to date information regarding the school and provide input representing your specific group.

 

Kennedy Singers. POP SHOW May 5-6. Purchase tickets on our website or at the box office (outside of KPAC). Cash/card accepted. Presale tickets are $15 regular, $10 student. At the Door $20.

 

Kennedy High Color Guard. Kennedy will be hosting the District Color Guard showcase. 4/19 6-9pm FREE admission. Kennedy High Gymnasium . All color guards in AUHSD will be showing their winterguard productions.


 

Student College Information for Parents. If you and/or your student are planning to attend college in the near future, please join us on April 26 6:00pm-7:30pm for a formidable presentation. Please use the link above to sign up. 

 

 

Friendly Reminder: Preparation for CAASPP. In anticipation for the upcoming rounds of testing for the CAASPP, please ensure your students are charging their school assigned chromebooks every night and to remember to bring it with them to school. Students who have their own personal devices can use the spare Chromebooks in the classrooms or check one out from IT. We kindly appreciate the cooperation.

"The Final Wave." Kennedy High School's end of the year dance. May 12 from 6-10 pm and for all grades. There will be no outside guest tickets sold. It will be on campus in the gym. 

 

La Palma Festival of NationsThe City of La Palma is excited to announce the return of the Festival of Nations on April 29, 2023! This one-day experience will celebrate La Palma’s cultural heritage through dancing, performances, and exhibits. A Hometown Parade featuring La Palma’s local schools, organizations, neighborhoods, and local businesses, will march down Walker Street (Houston Ave. to La Palma Ave.) starting at 10:30 AM followed by the Festival starting at 11:30 AM to 6 PM in Central Park (7821 Walker Street, La Palma, CA 90623).
