Chromebook and Hotspot Update. If your student has checked out a chromebook from the school, buying insurance is highly recommended. Families have 30 days from the beginning of school to purchase insurance. The insurance is $30 for the 2023-24 school year and covers any physical damage that may be done to the device that causes it to no longer function properly.  Chromebook insurance does not cover a lost device. You can purchase insurance through www.schoolpay.com

If your student is in need of a hotspot to access the internet at home, please reach out to our FACES representative, Mr. Cruz cruz_p@auhsd.us 

Friendly Reminder - Chromebooks. Students, please make sure you bring your Chromebooks or personal computing devices to school everyday, fully charged and ready to be used. It is very important to do this as you may be using these devices for various courses at our school. In addition, please start building the habit of charging your Chromebooks or personal devices every night to ensure it is ready the day after. It is always greatly appreciated that a student comes prepared. 

Parents/Guardians and families, please make sure your child brings their Chromebooks or personal computing devices to school everyday, fully charged and ready to be used. It is very important to do this as you may be using these devices for various courses at our school. Please remind your child every night to charge their devices and pack it in their backpacks for the morning. We very much appreciate your help in this and to help them build these positive habits as they go about this new school year.

We are delighted to invite you to our district-created program, "Ready, Set, Go," designed exclusively for parents like you who play a vital role in shaping their child's academic success.

Ready, Set, Go is a comprehensive three-module course aimed at equipping parents with the knowledge and tools to support their students at school and remain actively engaged in their education. Our goal is to empower you to become informed and effective advocates for your child's learning experience, both at home and within our school community.

Each module will delve into essential topics that will enable you to foster a positive and nurturing learning environment for your child. You will gain insights into various tools and systems employed by our school district, which will further enhance your ability to support your child's academic growth.

Enjoy your much deserved Summer Break Irish!

Panorama Picture Information for Class of 2023. If you purchased a Senior package that included the panorama picture, no further action is required. The photographer has the master list and will mail your picture home in about 6 weeks after graduation.

If you have not done so yet but would like to purchase a picture, the order deadline is June 9, 2023.  Cost is $30.00 and includes shipping. Payment can be submitted via check (digital payments cannot be accepted at this time.) Please make checks payable to:  Kevin Fritz Photo.

Summer School Information. Counselors have reached out to students for available summer school programs and registration.  For classes held at Kennedy, rooms will be posted on the first day of each session in front of the Counseling Center.  For ACCESS and PHCS summer programs, an orientation will be scheduled with families by the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) before July 3rd.  For any additional questions please call the main office at (714) 995-1833.

Last day of school: Thursday, May 25th (9-11 grades)

Wednesday, May 24th and Thursday, May 25th will be on a minimum day schedule, bell schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday, May 24 (Periods 1,3,5)

Textbook Check-In. Students will be taken by grade to the library during their math class period to return all textbooks. The schedule for remaining students will be as follows:

Monday, May 23rd - Grade: Sophomores; Tuesday, May 24th  - Grade: Freshman

Students are expected to return all textbooks during their designated day/ class period. Please ensure they bring all textbooks with them. Students who fail to turn in their books by their check in date will receive additional notifications.

AP/IB Testing.  The testing window is from May 1st through May 19th. Testing schedules have been handed out to AP students as of the week of April 17th and include a testing tips sheet on the back. School Site Council Meeting - Wednesday, May 17 from 3:30-4:30 in Room 101. The School Site Council (SSC) is composed of the principal, teachers, other school personnel, parents and students.  It provides a forum for all of Kennedy's constituents to come together, identify common goals, and establish a plan to achieve these goals.  This involvement occurs through the development of the SPSA (School plan for student achievement), the continuous review of the implementation of the plan, the assessment of the effectiveness of the plan, and the ongoing review and updating of the school plan.  It is also a forum for you to receive on-going up to date information regarding the school and provide input representing your specific group.

Empowered Health Wellness Fair. To celebrate Mental Health Month, TGR Foundation is partnering with Providence to host the Empowered Health Wellness Fair on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT at the TGR Learning Lab, and you're invited. This FREE event welcomes students and families to learn about the importance of mental health and ways to prioritize wellness. La Palma Festival of Nations. The City of La Palma is excited to announce the return of the Festival of Nations on April 29, 2023! This one-day experience will celebrate La Palma’s cultural heritage through dancing, performances, and exhibits. A Hometown Parade featuring La Palma’s local schools, organizations, neighborhoods, and local businesses, will march down Walker Street (Houston Ave. to La Palma Ave.) starting at 10:30 AM followed by the Festival starting at 11:30 AM to 6 PM in Central Park (7821 Walker Street, La Palma, CA 90623).

Steam-A-Palooza. You are cordially invited to attend STEAMAPALOOZA on Saturday, April 22nd from 9 am-1 pm at Loara High School. STEAMAPALOOZA is this year’s district-wide Open House and will feature food booths, visual and performing arts productions, and interactive STEAM activities such as building droids, test-driving robots (including an underwater robot), Esports, and hands-on workshops. Student-driven entrepreneurship will also be front and center as students from Empowered classrooms across the district will bring their business start-ups to life as well as many students showcasing their civic-action projects throughout the day. Many community partners will also be in attendance and providing resources at this event. Prizes and giveaways will happen all day, including extra tickets to AUHSD Graduations, gift cards to businesses such as Amazon and Starbucks, Angels tickets (Suites), and various tech gadgets.

Please bring the whole family to come and celebrate the amazing work of our students and schools. We hope to celebrate with all of you. 

We are providing transportation. Families are welcome to get on any bus that is most convenient. There will be busses picking up every hour starting at 7:30 am from the following locations: Anaheim HS, Ball JHS, Brookhurst JHS, Cypress HS, Dale JHS, Katella HS, Ponderosa Park, Kennedy HS, Lexington JHS, Oxford Academy, Savanna HS, South JHS, Sycamore JHS, and Western HS. Busses will rotate to drop back off at these same locations once an hour from Loara, with the last bus leaving Loara at 1:30 pm.

CAPSTONE SHOWCASE. Kennedy High School is proud to present, “My Kennedy Story - A Capstone Project.”  Kennedy High School’s Class of 2023 will hold two presentation days, and you are invited! Tuesday, April 11 at 8 am, Kennedy High School Seniors will present their progress and growth throughout their high school experience.  Please join us as we celebrate our outstanding students! On each of the presentation days, Seniors will be assigned to a classroom on campus, and present their “Kennedy Story” to an audience of staff members, underclassmen, and community members (that’s you). Presentations each day will run from 8 am until approximately 9:15 am (please arrive as early as 7:45 am to check-in).  You will view up to ten presentations from our students.  There is no cost to attend. This is the inaugural year of the Kennedy Capstone Showcase, and we would love for you to be a part of it!  Please consider joining us on one or both of these exciting days! Additionally, we are holding a Senior Capstone Celebration Breakfast on Thursday, April 13th (8 am-10:30 am) for all Seniors who have presented their "My Kennedy Story." We will provide breakfast and raffle off special prizes throughout the morning to celebrate our Seniors who presented. If you are willing to contribute a prize or monetary donation (suggestions are provided on the form) to help our school cover costs related to this special day, please complete this FORM (our nonprofit tax ID number can be provided).  We even have sponsorship opportunities for business owners who are looking to donate as a business write-off. Friendly Reminder: Preparation for CAASPP. In anticipation for the upcoming rounds of testing for the CAASPP, please ensure your students are charging their school assigned chromebooks every night and to remember to bring it with them to school. Students who have their own personal devices can use the spare Chromebooks in the classrooms or check one out from IT. We kindly appreciate the cooperation
